Chemical properties
Acidity: Thiophenol compounds have a certain acidity. The hydrogen atom on the thiol group (-SH) of 2-ethylthiophenol has a certain activity and can react with alkali to form the corresponding thiophenol salt.
Oxidation reaction: It is easily oxidized. When placed in the air, it may be oxidized to disulfide by oxygen. Under the action of strong oxidants, it can also be further oxidized to compounds such as sulfonic acid.
