antiseptic; a solvent for cellulose acetate, dyes, inks, and resins; a preservative for
 cosmetics and lubricants; an anesthetic in fish aquaculture; and in organic
synthesis. Phenoxyethanol is an alternative to formaldehyde-releasing.
