Maleic Anhydride
Maleic Anhydride (MA) ,  also known as maleic-- anhydride, is the internal anhydride of maleic acid. It is a colorless or white solid with an acidic taste at room temperature.
MA was previously prepared by catalytic oxidation of benzene. During the photochemical dimerization reaction of maleic anhydride, CBDA is formed. The polyimide produced by this compound is used for liquid crystal displays.
