  It is mainly used for the synthesis of p-tert-butyl phenolic resin. It can also be used as a polymerization inhibitor, a stabilizer, an ultraviolet absorber, and an anti-cracking agent for pesticides, rubber, coatings, etc. In addition, it is a raw material for manufacturing medical anthelmintics, the pesticide miticide propargite, fragrances, and plant protection agents. It can also be used as a softener, a solvent, an additive for dyes and paints, an antioxidant for lubricating oil, an oilfield demulsifier, and an additive for vehicle fuels, etc.
