Ethylhexylglycerin (CAS number: 70445-33-9) is a widely used preservative enhancer with moisturizing effects, which can give formulations a pleasant skin feel. It can greatly improve the broad-spectrum nature of many traditional preservatives, such as phenoxyethanol. Ethylhexylglycerol makes the preservative system more effective and faster by reducing the surface tension of the microbial cell wall and lowering the activity of bacteria.
