Property
Colorless liquid. Boiling point 157 ºC, relative density 0.819, miscible with ethanol, propylene glycol, and oil. There is a light green aroma of tender branches and leaves, with a hint of wine, fruit, and fat notes. Trace amounts of n-hexanol or its carboxylic acid esters are present in citrus fruits, berries, etc. Tea leaves and various essential oils such as lavender oil, banana, apple, strawberry, violet leaf oil, etc. are also contained.
Usage:
GB 2760-96 specifies that edible spices are allowed to be used. It is often used as a part of essence base and formulated essential oil (such as scented leaf oil), and can also be used in violets, osmanthus, magnolias, ylang ylang essence to modify or increase the green and tender flavor.
