1. Antibacterial and Preservative :
   • Highly effective as a herbicide and broad-spectrum fungicide with low toxicity and odor. Used for mold prevention and freshness preservation of fruits and vegetables (especially citrus, lemons, and pineapples).
   • Applied in cosmetics, wood, leather, fibers, and paper as a preservative (general concentration: 0.15%-1.5%).
2. Dyeing Auxiliary :
   • Serves as a dye carrier for polyester fibers and hydrophobic synthetic fibers (e.g., polyvinyl chloride, polyester) to improve dye affinity and fastness, resulting in vibrant, wash-resistant, and friction-resistant printed patterns.
3. Synthetic Materials :
   • Used in synthesizing stabilizers and flame retardants for plastics, resins, and polymers. New phenolic resins derived from 2-phenylphenol exhibit high thermal stability and low water absorption.
4. Pharmaceuticals :
   • Acts as an important pharmaceutical intermediate for synthesizing cholesterol ester hydrolase inhibitors, antispasmodics, anti-inflammatory drugs, analgesics, and dermatological medications.
5. Others :
   • Reacts with BCl 3 to produce antioxidants and anti-fatigue agents for lubricants.
