Introduction:
Appearance: Colorless to light yellow transparent liquid.
Odor: Has a special odor, usually described as a thiol-like odor, but relatively mild.
Melting point: -29ºC.
Boiling point: 170 - 171ºC.

Solubility: Slightly soluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether.
Chemical properties
The molecule contains two functional groups: hydroxyl (-OH) and methylthio . Hydroxyl has the typical chemical properties of alcohols and can undergo esterification reactions, oxidation reactions, etc. Methylthio has a certain nucleophilicity and can participate in some nucleophilic substitution reactions. Due to the presence of sulfur atoms, the compound also has a certain reducibility and can be oxidized to compounds such as sulfoxides or sulfones under certain conditions.
