Chemical Property/Description

1. Physical properties: o-Cresolphthalein ( Yellow ) is a white to light yellow crystalline powder with good solubility, soluble in ethanol, ether and other organic solvents, slightly soluble in water and acidic solutions.

2. Chemic al properties:o-Cresolphthalein ( Yellow ) is an acid-base indicator, and its color changes with the change of pH value. In acidic environment, o-Cresolphthalein ( Yellow ) is colorless. In neutral or appears red. This property makes it used as an acid-base indicator in many chemical experiments.alkaline en vironments.



Main Uses :

1. Acid-base indicator : Because the color of  o-Cresolphthalein ( Yellow ) changes with the change of pH value, it is commonly used as an acid-base indicator. In the chemical experiment, by observing the color change of o-Cresolphthalein ( Yellow ) , we can judge whether the chemical reaction has reached the end point, so as to control the experimental process.

2. Pharmaceutical intermediates: o-Cresolphthalein ( Yellow ) can b e used as a pharmaceutical intermediate for the synthesis of antibacterial drugs, antipyretic analgesics and other drugs. For example, o-crephenolphthalein can be used in the synthesis of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin.

3. Dye intermediates: o-Cresolphthalein ( Yellow ) can also be used to synthesize dye intermediates, such as cationic dyes, acid dyes, etc. These dyes are widely used in textile, printing and dyeing, papermaking and other industries.
