Phosphoric Acid 85%
Phosphoric acid , also known as orthophosphoric acid, with the chemical formula H3PO4, is a common inorganic acid.
It is non-volatile, resistant to decomposition, and exhibits negligible oxidizing properties. It possesses the general properties of acids and is a ternary weak acid.
Its acidity is weaker than that of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and nitric acid, but stronger than that of acetic acid and boric acid.
It can be obtained by dissolving phosphorus pentoxide in hot water.
Product Application
1. Phosphoric acid reacts with halides to produce hydrogen halide gases, which can be used in laboratories to prepare hydrogen halides.
2. Food-grade phosphoric acid can be used to acidify beverages or foods, such as cola.
3. Phosphoric acid is also used in dentistry and cosmetics. In dentistry, it can be used for cleaning tooth surfaces and teeth whitening.
4. Phosphoric acid is also added to anti-glare agents.
5. In semiconductor manufacturing processes, phosphoric acid can serve as an etching solvent. For example, a mixture of phosphoric acid and hydrogen peroxide can convert InGaAs into InP, achieving the etching objective.

Orthophosphoric acid is industrially obtained by treating apatite with sulfuric acid. Oxidizing phosphorus with nitric acid yields a purer form of phosphoric acid; typically a thick solution ranging from 83% to 98% concentration.
Further concentration produces colorless crystals. Phosphoric acid readily deliquesces in air; Heating causes gradual dehydration to form pyrophosphoric acid, and further dehydration yields metaphosphoric acid. Phosphoric acid readily self-associates into various compounds such as pyrophosphoric acid or triphosphoric acid.
