S-Acetyl-L-glutathione, a glutathione derivative, is a potent antioxidant and cytoprotective agent. Glutathione is a peptide composed of three amino acids, including glutamate, cysteine, and glycine. In S-acetyl-L-glutathione, the hydroxyl group (OH) of glutathione is replaced by an acetyl group (CH3CO). S-acetyl-l-glutathione has several advantages over ordinary glutathione. It has better stability and solubility and is more easily taken up by cells. Due to the presence of acetyl groups, S-acetyl-L-glutathione can more easily enter the cell and be converted to ordinary glutathione inside the cell. S-acetyl-l-glutathione has a certain application value in medicine and health fields. It is thought to enhance the antioxidant capacity of cells, reduce oxidative stress and inflammatory response, and may have a positive impact on improving cell health and protecting organ function. Several studies have also suggested that S-acetyl-L-glutathione may be beneficial against the aging process and has a potential role in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases
