Colorless ,  transparent ,   odorless with water absorbability  oil liquid .  Contains impurities with slight ly  ammonia smell. Insoluble in ether and chlorinated solvents, soluble in benzene, can be mixed with water, methanol, ethanol, acetic acid, acetone, dioxane, ethylene glycol, phenol and lower ester. This product can dissolve casein, but it  doesn't dissolve albumin.   Formamide can strongly corrode copper, brass, lead and rubber.
