Chemical property White waxy solid.  Melting point 43 ºC (cis), 70 ºC (trans).  Relative density 1.150 (20/4 ºC).  The sublimation temperature is 160 ºC, miscible with water and alcohol, soluble in ketones, almost insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons and ether.
Uses In addition to being used for the synthesis of PETG, it is also used as an intermediate for the synthesis of saturated and unsaturated polyester in coatings, inks, adhesives, insulating materials, and some special applications.
