Zinc pyrithione  is an antifungal or antibacterial agent for external use. It is white to yellow crystalline powder at room temperature. Slightly characteristic odor. Insoluble in water.
GB7916-87 stipulates that the maximum permissible concentration of zinc pyrithione in cosmetics is 0.5% by mass, and it is only used in products that are washed off after use. It can be used in gels, creams, lotions, powders and dandruff shampoos, and also used in deodorant and disinfectant products.
Application & Function
Zinc pyrithione is used in shampoos to remove dandruff and inhibit the growth of gram-positive and negative bacteria and molds.
