Vitamin B1, also known as thiamine thiamine, is one of the B vitamins that promotes normal glucose metabolism and is essential for maintaining the normal function of nerve conduction in the heart and gastrointestinal tract It combines with adenosine triphosphate to form vitamin B1 pyrophosphate (thiamine diphosphate, or coacidase), which is an essential coenzyme for carbohydrate metabolism. The lack of this coenzyme can lead to the blockage of oxidative metabolism and the formation of pyruvate and lactic acid accumulation, affecting the body's energy supply. Vitamin B1 can also inhibit the activity of cholinesterase. Increased cholinesterase activity, accelerated hydrolysis of acetylcholine, leading to nerve impulse conduction disorders, affect gastrointestinal and myocardial functions .

Vitamin B1,also known as thiamin or Thiamine, is a vitamin found in food, and manufactured as a dietary supplement and medication. Among food sources are whole grains, legumes, and some meats and fish. Refined grains lose much of their thiamine and cereals and flours are enriched with thiamine in many countries.
