Octanol is mainly used to make phthalate esters and aliphatic dibasic acid ester plasticizers such as dioctyl phthalate, dioctyl azelate and dioctyl sebacate, respectively. It is the main plasticizer and cold-resistant auxiliary plasticizer, defoaming agent, dispersant, mineral processing agent and petroleum additive for plastics. It is also used in printing and dyeing, paint, film, etc.
