Physical properties
Appearance is a white powdery solid, with no obvious odor, and feels delicate to the touch.

Chemical properties
It is a medium-strong base and can undergo neutralization reactions with acids to form salts and water.
It can react with carbon dioxide to form calcium carbonate (CaCO 3 ), which is also the principle behind "lime water turning turbid". This property is exactly what is utilized in the "hardening of lime mortar" in construction.
Its stability is average; it decomposes into calcium oxide and water at high temperatures (about 580°C), so it needs to be stored away from high-temperature environments.
