Ethyl crotonate is Colorless to pale yellow liquid. Boiling point is 136ºC, flash point is 22ºC. It presents a strong acidic, caramel-like and fruity aroma, with rum and ether-like scents. The natural product exists in apples, papayas, strawberries, rum, wine, cocoa, etc.
