Glacial Acetic Acid
Glacial acetic acid, also known as ice acetic acid, is a highly purified form of acetic acid, typically exceeding 99.5% purity by weight. It crystallizes into a solid at relatively low temperatures (freezing point around 16–17°C), hence the name "glacial" acetic acid.
It is a colorless, transparent, corrosive liquid with a pungent acidic odor. Applications include manufacturing polyethylene terephthalate (PET) for beverage bottles, cellulose acetate for motion picture film, adhesives, various synthetic fibers and fabrics, and pesticides.

Glacial Acetic acid is a vital chemical raw material with extensive applications:

The term "acetic acid" originates from the Latin word "acetum," meaning "to sour," referring to the sour taste produced by fermenting fruit. It is also commonly known as vinegar acid in the Chinese-speaking world.

Anhydrous acetic acid transforms into a corrosive, ice-like crystal at temperatures slightly below room temperature (16.7°C). Therefore, acetic acid with negligible water content is commonly referred to as glacial acetic acid.
