Colorless transparent or light yellow flammable liquid. There is a strong irritating smell.

Boiling point 247ºC. Melting point 19.5 ~ 21.5ºC. Flash point 127 ° C. The relative density is 1.217.

Miscible with ethanol (decomposition), diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, et hyl e ther, a cetone, carbon  tetrachloride, benzene, chlorobenzen, olive oil.

It reacts with water to produce carbon dioxide, which can react with compounds containing active hydrogen.

Use1
Reaction with diols to form linear polyurethane (polyurethane) resin. It can be used to make synthetic fibers, foam plastics, rubber, coatings and adhesives.

Use2
The dimer is a vulcanizing agent for mixed polyurethane rubber. In addition to being used alone, it can also be used in 80:20 and 65:35 mixtures with 2, 6-toluen e diisocyanate for the production of hard and soft polyurethane foams.
