Description

Isopropyl-β-D-thiogalactoside, often used in combination with X-Gal or Bluo-Gal, is used for blue and white screening of
recombinant l colonies. IPTG is not metabolized by and is a lactose analogue. Once it enters the cell, it will produce a
long-lasting induction effect. Therefore, the induction efficiency of IPTG is high, and often only a small amount (1 mmol/L) is
needed to achieve the ideal induction effect. Since IPTG is not metabolized, it specifically induces the expression of foreign
proteins in the cell. Unaffected by cell metabolism, the induction effect remains stable.

Application & Funtion

Application:
1.Beta-galactosidase inducer.Isopropyl-β-D-thiogalactoside is used as a reagent in molecular biology. It is used as an effective inducer of protein expression where the gene is under the control of the lac operator. It is used with 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside to identify the non-recombinant plasmid in cloning experiments by blue-white screen methodology.
2.Isopropyl-beta-D-thiogalactopyranoside is used as an inducer for the activity of E. Coli lac operon.

IPTG is often used for induction β- Cloning experiment of galactosidase activity. It is often used in combination with X-gal or bluo gal for blue-white screening of recombinant bacterial colonies. These colonies can be chemically book to induce the expression of lac operon in E. coli. IPTG binds to lacI repressor protein and changes its conformation to prevent β- Inhibition of galactosidase coding gene lacZ.
