Glycolic acid is an important chemical raw material used in the production of ethylene glycol, menthyl glycolate, and glycolate. It is also used to manufacture tanning agents, hair dyes, leather stains, fiber dyes, adhesives, metal chelating agents, petroleum demulsifiers, electroplating chemicals, aluminum etching agents, crosslinking agents for cellulose fabrics, stainless steel electropolishing agents, etc.
Additionally, it serves as a cleaner and disinfectant for food processing plants and cattle sheds, a boiler scale inhibitor, a surface treatment agent for metals like copper, and an ingredient in skincare cosmetics.
