Ethylene glycol monobutyl ether   , a kind of organic compound, chemical formula C6H14O2, is a colorless transparent liquid, soluble in water, acetone, benzene, ether, methanol, carbon tetrachloride and other organic solvents and mineral oil, mainly used as paint, especially nitro spray paint, quick-drying paint, varnish, enamel and paint striper with high boiling point solvent.

Butyl glycol (also known as BG, 2-butoxyethanol, glycol monobutyl ether and ethylen e glycol monobutyl ether, butyl cellosolve, butoxyethanol) is a clear, colourless, oily liquid with a unique sweet yet mild odour and has the formula C ₆ H ₁₄ O ₂ . It is a butyl ether of ethylene glycol and is miscible with water and common organic solvents. It has been produced industrially for over half a century and is used primarily as a solvent in paints and surface coatings but also in inks and cleaning products.

1.Mainly used for making polyester fiber, polyester resin, dehumidifying agents, plasticizers, surfactant, synthetic fibers,
2.Can be used as a dye / ink solvent, the preparation of the engine antifreeze, gas dehydration.
3.For the production of synthetic resin, PET, or polyester fiber grade PET, bottle grade PET film  used to produce mineral water bottles.
4.Can also produce alkyd resins, also used as antifreeze.
