White crystals or crystalline powders. Odorless. Slightly sour and bitter. About 250% (after drying) melted and decomposed. Stable in nature. The aqueous solution is acidic (pH 3.5~4.5). Soluble in water (39g/100ml,24 C), the solubility in water is much larger than L-histidine. Insoluble in ethanol and ether. Belongs to the quasi-essential amino acids (infant essential amino acids), synthesis in the human body is slow.
