Methylene chloride   is a kind of organic matter, molecular formula is CH2Cl2, for colorless transparent liquid, with a pungent odor similar to ether. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol and ether, it is an incombustible low boiling point solvent under common use conditions. When its vapor becomes a high concentration in high temperature air, it will generate mixed gas with weak combustion , which is often used to replace flammable petroleum ether and ether.
