M3-2 High-Speed Tool Steel Heat Treatment Process

Process Temperature Details
Soft Annealing 820-860°C Heat and cool slowly in the furnace. Max Brinell hardness: 280.
Hardening 1st Pre-heating: 400°C, 2nd Pre-heating: 850°C, 3rd Pre-heating: 850-1050°C Harden from 1190-1300°C , followed by oil or air quenching, or warm bath at 550°C.
Tempering 540-570°C Temper at least 3 times . Hardness after tempering: 64-66 HRC .
