Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate , also known as Syn-ake, is a synthetic tripeptide that mimics the activity of Waglerin-1, a toxin found in the venom of the Temple Viper snake. It functions as a reversible antagonist of the muscle nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nmAChR). By binding to the ε subunit of the nmAChR, it blocks the binding of acetylcholine, leading to the closure of the receptor. This inhibition prevents sodium ions from entering the muscle cells, disrupting depolarization and blocking the transmission of nerve impulses. As a result, the muscle remains in a relaxed state, which helps in reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
