Peppermint Oil (Mentha arvensis Oil / Cornmint Oil)

Peppermint oil , also known as   mentha oil   or   cornmint oil , is a natural essential oil derived from the fresh leaves and stems of the   Mentha arvensis   plant (a member of the   Lamiaceae   family) through steam distillation. It is widely used in food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and aromatherapy due to its refreshing aroma and therapeutic properties.

Key Properties

• Appearance : Colorless to pale yellow or greenish liquid that may solidify at low temperatures

• Aroma : Strong, fresh, minty, and cooling with a slightly bitter taste.

• Main Components :

  • L-Menthol (40%-60%)   - Provides the cooling sensation.

  • Menthone (24%-50%)   - Contributes to the characteristic aroma.

  • Other constituents: Isomenthone, limonene, α-pinene, and pulegone

• Solubility : Soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, and propylene glycol; slightly soluble in water

Applications
