Carbohydrazide, 1,3-diaminourea, or carbonyl hydrazide, exists as white short columnar crystals or crystalline powder at room temperature. It is sparingly soluble in ethanol, highly soluble in water (with endothermic dissolution), and insoluble in alcohols, ethers, and benzene. As a hydrazine derivative, it exhibits strong reducibility, is non-toxic, and can replace hydrazine hydrate and oximes.
Industrial Applications:
Water Treatment: Used as an oxygen scavenger for boiler water, recognized as the most advanced material for this purpose worldwide. It features low toxicity, high melting point, and far greater deoxidation efficiency than current materials, making it an ideal safe and eco-friendly product.

Rocket Propellants: Serves as a component in rocket propellant formulations.

Textile Industry: Due to the easy substitution of hydrogen atoms bonded to nitrogen, it functions as a crosslinking agent for elastic fibers, formaldehyde scavenger, and antioxidant for pigments like carotene.

Daily Chemicals: Adding appropriate carbohydrazide to phenol-containing bactericidal soaps prevents discoloration and rancidity.

Chemical Intermediates: Widely applied in pharmaceuticals, herbicides, plant growth regulators, dyes, and other industries as a raw material or intermediate.
